Federal Budget Challenge

1. Take the Federal Budget Challenge.  

Your goal is to help reduce the deficit by staying true to your beliefs about the role of government and what you think is important for government to do for society. 

2. a. Record each choice you make. Make sure and read the pros/cons to better understand the issues.
    b. Provide the reason(s) you made for each of your choices
    c. Record how much each choice reduced the budget or increased the budget
3. Once you are done making ALL your choices, list at least three (3) political values that influenced your OVERALL decisions
4. How did these values influence your OVERALL specific choices?
5. What was your final deficit or surplus amount?
6. What did you find was the easiest decision to make?  Why?
7. What did you think was the hardest decision to make?  Why?
8. How does the federal budget relate to economic principles like tradeoffs, scarcity and opportunity cost?

On the piece of paper you turn in, please make sure all your answers are numbered.
